At the core of any Christian preacher’s
resources is the power of the Holy Spirit.

Christians who engage in preaching are aware that when they preach they are inspired by God’s Spirit and with that power and authority they believe HE will speak through them.

Preaching is an activity where God encourages the preacher to use and develop their gifts of communication as they proclaim what He has done, is doing and is going to do in the world today.

Christian Preaching Modules

Stuart has taken the time to produce for us a quartet of modules on preaching - defining not only what preaching is, but delving in to its purpose, form and delivery. Informative, engaging and written so as to encourage interaction and reflection, each module builds on the previous one, yet each one is capable of standing on its own.

These can be used either within the setting of a workshop (as we’ll be looking to do), in the context of the mentoring programme, or equally as a refresher at an individual level even if you’ve been preaching for years.

In as much as I ask it of myself, let me invite you to reflect on what you’re going to do this year to facilitate your development as a lay preacher. Why not carve out and invest the time in working through one or all of the preaching modules Stuart’s produced and tailored for us.

Just click on the required module to open up the file.

The Life of the Lay Preacher - Workshop Presentation

by Glen Cartwright, General Secretary Attached are the presentation slides from our 'Life of the Lay Preacher' workshop at Stirling Baptist Church last Saturday which Roy Searle from the Northumbria Community who facilitated has kindly made available to us. Those of you who were there will be able to easily recall and reflect on in relation to what Roy helpfully shared. Those of you who weren't there, you missed a most helpful day and I so wish you had been there. Can I invite you therefore to take the time to have a read through the material and, aided by the Spirit, reflect in relation to your own life and ministry - the priorities, pressures, poisons, practices and disciplines. How we live, as those entrusted with the responsibility of communicating God's Word, is not at all insignificant. So, how is it with your heart? What are you and God working on at present? Questions I ask firstly of myself and secondly, with a humble spirit and because I care about your spiritual well-being and preaching ministry, I ask you. Presentation
