From Hector Livingston, Friend of the Association Working at a remote, rural, African hospital, we
were often the object of intense scrutiny by the
'locals'. I had not realised that my decision to put up
a car-port alongside our house was regarded as very
eccentric behaviour. After all, it rained only seldom,
and you could keep one's car out of the sun by parking
under a tree. The car-port was duly completed, and shortly
after, we experienced the only hail storm in living
memory. The hail was so heavy that for 18 hours it lay
a foot deep in the rain water channels. Nesting birds
and snakes were beaten out of the trees and lay dead
on the ground. Roofs were damaged, cars dented, and
windscreens smashed. My truck remained inviolate under
its corrugated iron roof. The head groundsman came to see me. Being a
courteous Zulu, he did not actually say that he and
his colleagues had regarded me as insane for erecting
the car-port, but he certainly implied it. "But now",
he said seriously, "we know that you have a direct line
to Heaven since you were guided to put up the
car-port just before the hail came." I felt like a miniature Noah! The following quizzes have been donated by Hector Livingston, who writes "I composed these quizzes to help make the Emmanual Mission better known. Some church groups have used 4-5 questions as ice-breakers in group meetings. Please feel free to use them in any way, whether for individual enjoyment, or in church settings."A direct line to heaven
