Who will go for us?

April 24th, 2012 by Webmaster

Easter Sunday has come and gone but for the Christian every day is resurrection day we do not have to be doubters like Thomas.
The disciples were ordinary men who became extraordinary because of Jesus, at the time of the crucifixion they were confused felt powerless and were frightened but they went on to become powerful witnesses to His resurrection.
Their lives were transformed by Gods power, and God used them and others to spread the good news that of the forgiveness of sins through acceptance of Jesus as their Lord and Saviour.
As members of the SBLPA we too are ordinary people, we are empowered by God not only to preach the Gospel from a pulpit but to share with others this message of salvation.
Isaiah 6:7-8 tells us that his guilt was removed and his sins forgiven then he heard the Lord asking “Whom should I send as a messenger to my people who will go for us”.
Isaiah’s purpose was to call the nation of Judah back to God and to tell of Gods salvation through the Messiah, our mission today is to call our nation to repent and to tell of Gods salvation through the Messiah our Lord Jesus Christ.
The first thing that strikes me is that we are always in the presence of God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit.
Some people seem to think that God only turns up at a church building that is why it is important for us to use God given opportunities to share the Gospel.
This could be through a word of testimony, through being a listener to someone in their time of need, perhaps through outreach work with children and youth, or through door to door or open air work. Many opportunities turn up but how many do we take?
We are sinners saved by Grace we come before a Holy God and thank Him, worshipping and praising His name.
God does not expect us to always be on our knees, “Whom should I send as a messenger to my people who will go for us”.
He wants you and I to be His messengers and His missionaries in all areas of life, I read in a book that “God wants preachers whose pulpit is the home fireside, the workman’s bench, the banks, the offices, and the factories, preachers who preach by example, whose lives are living sermons on the texts of love, faith, gentleness, and purity”.
That’s a good start for anyone of us.
I like to ask questions of myself, you may do the same, the question I ask is this, what am I doing with my life? With my influence do others see Jesus in my life? We will never be perfect until that day my hope is that others will see the changes God has made in my life.
God wants you, can you say “Here I am send me”?
What is required of you for this service, you must be humble; no one can help a sinner till they know their own sin. No self righteous person ever saved a soul. You must have Faith you cannot teach or practice that which you do not believe fully including God’s word.
We must go with a firm conviction we must say I believe.
Make up your minds today to do something for God’s honour say to Him now “Here I am send me!!”
