“When Music fades,
All is stripped away and I simply come;
Longing just to bring
Something that’s of worth.
That will bless your heart. “

This was written by Matt Redman but what is the story? The story is they had become so focused on the musical instruments that the church that Matt Redman was in actually had 6 months without musical instruments. Throughout this time they learnt something valuable they might not have learnt if they had not put their instruments aside. This was that they had lost sight on what it was really all about. It’s all about Jesus! This is the first thought in a series which will discuss worship and preparations made for a worship service. Hopefully we won’t need to go this far to learn such a lesson but in our worship service, preparing for such a service or even our day to lives we mustn’t lose sight of Jesus. Is he centre in what we are doing today?

The athlete is noted for keeping his eyes fastened on the finishing line. He was keep to himself focused not looking to the left or the right but straight ahead. In the same way we are to keep our eyes on Jesus.

“Let us fix our eyes on Jesus the author, the finisher, the perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of God” Hebrews 12:1

Lord, we pray that you would help us to keep you centre in our hearts as we prepare for occassion we may be leading worship and/or preaching. And throughout the worship service people will come away saying that they have met with the living saviour, Amen.
